Autocar goes for a ride along in the BMW M8

While it was interesting to see Shmee150 take a shotgun ride in the new BMW M8, he’s not exactly an expert in all things automotive. When it comes to reviewing how a car feels by nothing more than the seat of your pants, sitting in the passenger seat, I’d personally rather turn to journalists more qualified, such as those from Autocar. Not trying to bash Shmee, just pointing out that Autocar has a history of more experienced journalists that can better give us insight about a car’s dynamics, especially from the passenger seat. Prior to setting off, Autocar was able to speak with Dirk Häcker, BMW M’s head of R&D.…

    VIDEO: Shmee150 gets a sneak-peak at the BMW M8

Yesterday, BMW released some prototype M8 photos, along with some official specs and info. It was basically a teaser release to keep us all on the hook until the actual car is revealed. We don’t know exactly when we’ll see the real-deal BMW M8 so, until then, this is all we’ve really got. Although, some journalists and YouTubers were given some time with the BMW M8 as passengers. Famous YouTuber Shmee150 was one of them and has some video of his passenger ride along in the M8. In this video, Smhee rides shotgun while Joerg Weidinger is behind the wheel, just giving us a taste of what the M8 can…

Video: BMW M4 CS and Porsche 911 GT3 Play on the Track

One only has to take a closer look at the BMW M4 CS to realize that this is a serious track car. It does away with comfort and replaces it with inconvenience, no storage spaces, an improvised sound system and a couple of attitude enhancing features. It’s the best M4 you could buy in my opinion, after having driven it for a couple of days both on and off the track. In the video below you get to see a BMW M4 CS playing with a Porsche 911 GT3 on the track. Those of you who are avid track fiends probably know that the GT3 badge means that’s one focused…

The European Union’s competition authority it had approved the plan of Mercedes and BMW to combine their car-sharing businesses, subject to conditions. The transaction has already been filed with the responsible authorities in a number of different countries and, in some cases, has already been approved. Under the deal, which includes car-sharing units Car2Go and DriveNow…

Alex Zanardi Completes Tests with BMW M8 GTE ahead of Daytona Race

This summer, the living legend, Alex Zanardi wrote history when he raced in the DTM at Misano, in what was the first ever race held in the championship at night. The Misano race was a preview for another milestone in Zanardi’s impressive resume, a challenge at Daytona’s 25-hour race behind the wheel of a modified BMW M8 GTE. The Italian driver just completed his first tests behind the wheel of the new car and everything went according to plan. The BMW M Motorsport division and Zanardi spent three days at Miramas, in the south of France this week, in a first run with the Italian behind the wheel of a…

    Want this S54-swapped E46 3 Series Touring?

BMW has never actually made an M3 Touring. It’s been reported that the top brass at BMW is considering such a car for the upcoming G80-generation, but nothing has been green-lit as of yet. So until then, if you want an M3 wagon, you’re just going to have to make one. As is the case with this S54-swapped E46 BMW 3 Series Touring that’s currently up for sale. For those of you that aren’t up on BMW’s engine nomenclature, the S54 engine is the 3.2 liter naturally-aspirated I6 that powered the E46 BMW M3 back in the day. It made 333 hp and was a pretty astonishing engine, considering it…

Video: 800 HP BMW M5 from G-Power Goes for Dyno Run

The guys from G-Power were among the first to launch an upgrade for the current F90 M5 and boy, did they do a good job! They claimed their take on the M5 has 800 HP going to the wheels, an astounding number for any car, let alone a four-door mid-size sedan. Since some people raised their eyebrows and said something’s fishy with those HP claims, the guys put together a short clip where they took the M5 to a dyno, to check out exactly what’s what. The dyno used had to be a four-wheel drive one since the M5 now comes with all-wheel drive. Furthermore, the upgrades had to be…

Tesla Model 3 Performance gets new Track Mode software with help from Randy Pobst

You might remember awhile back, Motor Trend brought its in-house hot-shoe Randy Pobst to the Streets of Willow to test the Tesla Model 3, Jaguar I-Pace and, for good measure, Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. The Alfa was the fastest car there that day and Pobst had some niggles with the Tesla, its Track Mode and choice of tire. Apparently, Tesla wasn’t very happy with the results (you know Elon Musk had a full-blown meltdown that day). So Tesla decided to rent out Willow Springs for the day, invite Randy Pobst and Motor Trend back down, and test out some newly developed Track Mode software, as well as new tires and…

Official Photos and Info: BMW M8 en route to production

It’s been a very long time coming for the BMW M8. We still have to wait a bit longer, as the actual debut of the M8 is still some time away but we now get a bit of a taste of the first-ever BMW M8. While this is the second generation of 8 Series, it’s the very first M8. There was an M8 Concept decades ago but it never reached production and it was just a lone prototype. Now, an official M8 is here and it seems very promising. The photos BMW has released are of a camouflaged car, so we don’t actually get to see it in the flesh.…

BMW could move more of its crossover production to China

BMW could move more of its crossover production to China since the tariffs between the United States and China are expected to dent the BMW’s 2018 earnings by 300 million euro, Chief Financial Officer Nicolas Peter said on to Automotive News. The CFO says “a final decision in the coming weeks about which model to localize next in China.” “We will take a final decision in the coming weeks about which model to localize next in China,” Peter said, adding that sales of the X3 offroader have risen since BMW decided to build it in Asia.
